Suez Canal suspended navigation, stranded cargo ship rescue may take a few weeks
Cairo, March 25 (Xinhua) (Reporter Wu Danni Yan Jing) Egypt's Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabieh said in a statement on March 25 that the rescue of the cargo ship that ran aground in the Suez Canal continues, the canal suspended navigation. A rescue company sources said, do not rule out that the rescue may take several weeks.
Rabieh said in the statement that 13 cargo ships sailed into the Suez Canal via the Egyptian port of Said on the 24th, with a view to continuing their journey after the stranded cargo ship was floated. Dozens of other cargo ships carrying important cargoes are stranded at both ends of the canal. At present, nine tugboats and two dredgers have been involved in the rescue.
Rabier 25 in an interview with the media, said that once the rescue is successful, the Suez Canal will be all-weather passage to make up for the waiting time of stranded cargo ships. Currently stranded cargo ship rescued the specific time is not yet determined.
Egyptian maritime experts Saleh Hegazi said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency, if the successful removal of sediment near the stranded cargo ship, the cargo ship is expected to float in two days.
Egypt's Pyramids Online website, citing a Dutch rescue company responsible for the words, said the stranded cargo ship tonnage is large, do not rule out the rescue may take several weeks.
