Lawsuit Over $73,000 Pool Table – as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Lawsuits can sometimes be downright bizarre.
One recent legal battle features a high-end pool table which was sold for a whopping $73,000. However the buyer is angry, alleging that the manufacturer, Nottage Design of Australia failed to mention that only custom, coated balls are to be used with it.
He’s seeking $219,000 in damages.
The attorney representing the plaintiff claims that the buyer learned about using special balls only after the standard balls were used, which left the table severely scratched and nearly destroyed.
Nottage’s website warns to only use specially-coated balls, but the buyer retorts that the warning was issued after the complaint.
Several years ago, scratches caused another lawsuit. A man sued Microsoft, because he believed his X-box console was scratching his discs, rendering them useless. He sought $50,000 in damages, accusing the company of negligence, breach of implied warranty and strict product liability”.
The man claimed that Microsoft knew the X-box’s were defective, but still continued to sell them.
